Dan’s Vision
As Supervisor, Dan has been growing our economy, creating new jobs and protecting our heritage by:
- Accelerating Route 1 improvements
- Bringing new high-tech jobs by fully funding our Mount Vernon District schools to prepare our workforce
- Empowering seniors to remain independent and stay in their homes
- Requiring smart and green land-use policies and development
- Pushing for more transit funding to relieve congestion and extend Metro’s Yellow Line
- Launching Potomac Banks “branding” to connect our area’s world-class tourism and entertainment venues
Throughout three decades of service to our community, Dan has delivered results for us:
- Led the Board’s “Fairfax Green” Environmental Initiatives
- Launched and funded Embark and ‘The One’ Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) to revitalization of Richmond Highway
- Led the Strategic Economic Development Taskforce; Infill Development Taskforce; Lorton Visioning 2040; renovation of Original Mount Vernon High School; approval and construction of the new Lorton Community Center/Library/Park, Lorton Police Station and Animal Shelter, Mount Vernon Rec Center and Penn Daw/Beacon Hill Fire Station, Emergency and Supportive Housing
- Strengthened our economy and ensured our students are being prepared for 21st Century jobs by getting increased STEAM classes and 100,000+ more student job-ready certifications.
As a businessman, Dan understands the bottom line. His leadership initiatives have made government more efficient and saved taxpayers tens of millions of dollars through shared services and smart financing.
